To understand its dynamics, it is useful to analyse the motivation concept. What actually is motivation? What can theory tell us? Is motivation a stable personality feature or something that educators can influence? What is intrinsic motivation and is it more desirable than extrinsic motivation?

For this symposium, various experts from different countries have been invited to shed light on the motivation concept, not only from a medical education perspective but also more broadly. This symposium should be interesting for teachers, trainers, educationalists and anyone else who has been wondering about motivation in education and selection.
